Ang Clinic to Become Connell Family Clinic Dec. 1st
Jaeniffer Ang Kaiser, ARNP, and the Ang Clinic will begin operating as the Connell Family Clinic under Columbia Basin Health Association (CBHA) on December 1, 2011. “We are excited to be able to offer expanded medical services to the Connell area. The success of our Connell Family Dental Clinic encouraged us to approach Jaeniffer about developing a partnership” said Greg Brandenburg, CEO of CBHA. Kaiser is excited about the change as well. “I will to be able to concentrate all my energies on patient care and not worry about administrative issues,” she said. “It will be great to have the support of other medical providers on a daily basis.”
Kaiser is pleased that the clinic will now remain open when she is gone. “In the past I had to close the clinic when I was away,” she said. “Luckily I could still communicate via electronic medical records with my full-time assistant, Laura Arteaga, who will also join the CBHA staff.” Office hours at the clinic beginning December 1st will remain 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.
Plans are to add an additional medical provider by September of 2012. A new clinic is under design that will accommodate the additional full time medical provider and also provide expanded laboratory services. Hours of operation will also be extended to 6pm.
Kaiser moved from the Philippines to Connell when she was 16 years old. Her parents moved before her and by the time she arrived her father had established the Ang Medical Clinic. She finished high school in Connell, attended BBCC in Moses Lake and went on receive her BSN from Gonzaga University in 1989. She completed pre-med courses at the University of Washington and graduated in 1995 from Vanderbilt University with MSN and FNP degrees. She joined her father in his medical practice in Connell in 1999 and took over the clinic in 2007 when her parents returned to the Philippines. She said she received her father’s “blessing” to sell her clinic to CBHA.
“Medicine has been my life,” she said. “My father is a medical doctor, my mother, a pharmacist, and my brother and sister are also ARNPs (advanced registered nurse practitioner).” Kaiser is very interested in preventive medicine and likes to educate her patients on healthy lifestyle choices. Kaiser attended Catholic schools and became interested in helping others at a young age.
Kaiser and her husband Larry, an 8th grade math teacher in Connell, and their family enjoy traveling. They visit family in the Philippines every two years and have spent time in Asia and Hong Kong. Singapore is on their list for future travels. Kaiser is also an avid reader and “loves going to the library”. She also enjoys exercise. “I have made my home in Connell,” she said. “The cost-of-living is low and I feel safe here.”
