Patient Care Applications:
We use the “best of the breed” approach and this involves seamless integration of various systems including OnBase document imaging system and Centricity practice management system and EMR. CBHA has deliberately moved toward a completely paperless office. 100 percent of our patient care documentation, prescriptions, labs, radiology etc. is completed electronically. Our pharmacy uses a pharmacy management system and many of the prescriptions are filled by the ScriptPro robotic prescription filling system, under supervision of our Pharmacists.
Digital Radiography was implemented in June, 2005, thus allowing providers quick access to patients’ images and quicker consultations with specialists. We use Computer Kiosks with access to Wired MD allowing patients to obtain educational information about medical conditions. The use of television monitors above dental chairs has helped patients to relax during their visits by viewing programs of their choice. CBHA recently implemented Electronic Dental Records at all of their dental facilities.
CBHA’s Othello Family Dental Clinic has made an addition to its state-of-the-art facilities. The Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program has provided CBHA with a microscope used for complicated dental procedures. CBHA added a video feed to the microscope that projects what the Dentist is seeing onto a TV that sits above the dental chair. This allows the Dentist performing the procedure to teach other dentists and residents during the process.
CBHA recently began utilizing a Vocera communications system. This new system includes Vocera badges which are wireless wearable communication devices that clip on or hang around the user's neck. The badge enables instant two-way voice conversation. The system has increased efficiency in our patient flow and improved patient outcomes.
Other systems used include a company-wide intranet allowing staff access to timesheets, electronic forms, company policies and procedures and benefits information. Halogen's e-Appraisal Employee Performance Management system was implemented in early 2006, allowing staff the ability to document performance throughout the year and complete performance evaluations on-line. Sendouts allows job applicants to apply for positions on-line allowing for a paperless application process.
As technologies change, so does CBHA. Current projects include a Lab Portal to allow patients access to their results.
