Welcome Dental Residents!

We are excited to welcome four new dental residents to CBHA! Our residents will be at CBHA for a one full year practicing and bettering their skills. They will be working alongside our dentists, so you might see them at your next appointment!

You may be wondering what exactly a Dental Resident can do. Here are some of the procedures they can do while under the supervision of our dental providers:

  • Diagnose and provide appropriate dental treatment to patients during complete exams like:
    • X-rays
    • Dental cleanings
    • Fillings
    • Root canals
    • Extractions
    • Bone grafting
    • Crown Lengthening
    • Crowns
    • Fabricate temporary dentures/flippers
  • Educate patients, and parents of the patients, on maintaining proper oral health.
  • Communicate with dental staff on our team regarding patient treatment plans.

Let’s get to know our residents a little more:

Dr. Joseph Wright Jr. - Dental Resident

Dr. Wright grew up in Petersburg, Virginia. He attended Virginia Tech for his undergrad then went to Howard University in Washington, D.C. for Dental School. He chose a career path in dentistry because he enjoys the confidence building aspect of fixing smiles.

He likes that CBHA has friendly staff and a desire for excellence. Dr. Wright is looking forward to learning different techniques here at CBHA as a Dental Resident, and seeing how far he can go in the Dental Field. When he is not at work he enjoys games and is a technology enthusiast. He also enjoys basketball and roots for the Lakers.

Dr. Joseph Wright is completing his residency at our Wahluke Clinic.

Dr. Richard Jimenez - Dental Resident

Dr. Jimenez grew up in a small town just outside of Centralia, WA. To give you an idea of just how small it really is, his graduating class only had 18 people. He then attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, receiving his Bachelors in Molecular Biology. After, he completed his D.M.D at UCONN School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut.

He decided to go into dentistry after he participated in several medical and dental education programs during his summer breaks while he was in undergrad. Dr. Jimenez looks forward to getting people out of pain in his dental career. He also enjoys teaching people the importance of taking care of their oral health and learning about new and updated treatments for patients.

Dr. Jimenez decided to do his residency with us because he enjoys how friendly, welcoming and helpful everyone is here. Since his first day, his coworkers welcomed him with open arms and offered to help in whatever way they can. When he is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys snowboarding, hiking and reading.

Dr. Jimenez is completing his residency at our Connell Clinic.

Dr. Jessica HU – Dental Resident

Dr. Jessica Hu grew up in Southern California. She completed her Dental Hygiene Bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern California. After working as a Dental Hygienist for 3 years, she was inspired by the dentist she worked with to go back to school and become a dentist. She then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Southern California.

Dr. Hu knew she wanted to start her residency here after speaking with our Chief of Dental, Dr. Choi. “CBHA checked all the boxes: providing quality and affordable healthcare to underserved populations, mentorship from a group of experienced dentists that perform a wide array of dental procedures, the state-of-the-art clinic, and practice four-handed dentistry with experienced dental assistants.”

Outside of work she likes to travel, cook and watch movies. She also likes avocados and listening to jazz music. Dr. Hu is looking forward to becoming a well-rounded general dentist and working in a community health clinic to provide quality service to those in need. She is also excited to practice dentistry and put her knowledge to work here at CBHA.

Dr. Hu will be completing her residency at our Othello Clinic.

Dr. Vickie Bui – Dental Resident

Dr. Vickie Bui immigrated to California with her family when she was 8 years old. She attended the University of California and received her Master’s in oral Biology and medicine, then attended Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of University of Southern California, and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

Dr. Bui chose a career in Dental because she wanted to work with people that needed assistance in improving their health, spirits and their self-esteem by focusing on their oral health. She decided to do her residency with CBHA because we look after the well-being of our providers, staff and patients. Dr. Bui also liked that we provide a safe working environment where everyone feels safe being here.

She is looking forward to all the great things that she will learn here at CBHA and throughout her Dental career. “I would like to develop a good relationship with patients, become their comprehensive dental provider, and work with multidisciplinary providers to monitor and improve a patient's oral health,” says Dr. Bui. Outside of work she enjoys ice skating, chess and swimming. She also enjoys trying new places to eat and hiking.

Dr. Bui will be completing her residency at our Othello Clinic.
